Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ventriol-P is a fixed-dose combination oral syrup developed and marketed by Healthkind Labs. It contains four active ingredients: terbutaline (a bronchodilator), guaifenesin (an expectorant), bromhexine (a mucolytic), and menthol (a soothing agent). Terbutaline acts as a selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist to relax bronchial smooth muscle and widen the airways. Guaifenesin increases the volume and reduces the viscosity of respiratory tract secretions, facilitating mucociliary clearance. Bromhexine thins and loosens thick phlegm by depolymerizing mucopolysaccharide fibers. Menthol stimulates TRPM8 receptors to produce a cooling sensation and relieve minor throat irritation. Ventriol-P is approved and marketed in India for the symptomatic relief of productive cough associated with bronchospasm, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, emphysema, and other bronchopulmonary disorders.
