Overview
VeonGen AMD gene therapy is an undisclosed, preclinical-stage gene therapy program being developed by VeonGen Therapeutics (formerly ViGeneron) for the treatment of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). The program utilizes VeonGen's proprietary vgAAV (engineered adeno-associated virus) platform technology, which is designed to overcome the limitations of traditional AAV vectors by providing superior transduction efficiency and allowing for less invasive intravitreal injection rather than subretinal delivery. Unlike the majority of current AMD treatments that target vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), this program focuses on a novel, undisclosed non-VEGF pathway, potentially addressing unmet needs in patients who are refractory to standard anti-VEGF therapies.
