Overview

Vepoloxamer is a purified form of poloxamer-188, a synthetic, organic compound that acts as a cell membrane structure modulator. It selectively binds to exposed hydrophobic regions of damaged cell membranes, reducing cellular membrane adhesive interactions in circulation. Vepoloxamer has hemorheologic, antithrombotic, anti-inflammatory, and cytoprotective properties. It reduces blood viscosity, inhibits platelet aggregation, prevents fibrin/fibrinogen assembly, and decreases adhesion of blood cells and proteins to vascular endothelium.
