VER-027 is a preclinical-stage mRNA vaccine developed by Vernagen, in partnership with Emory University, for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. The vaccine is designed to encode the stabilized prefusion conformation of the fusion (F) glycoprotein from both RSV subgroup A and RSV subgroup B. Formulated with lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for delivery, VER-027 induces robust neutralizing antibody responses and activates RSV-specific cellular immunity, including CD8+ T cells. Preclinical studies in animal models have demonstrated complete protection against challenge with either RSV subgroup. Vernagen is supported by its parent company, ST PHARM, which provides contract development and manufacturing services.
