Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VER001 is an oral formulation of the selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD) fulvestrant, developed by Veramorph using its proprietary DPOD (Degradable Polymer Oral Delivery) platform. While fulvestrant is a standard-of-care treatment for estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) metastatic breast cancer (mBC), its poor solubility has historically limited its administration to monthly intramuscular injections. VER001 utilizes a degradable gel technology to maximize oral bioavailability, which has demonstrated up to 20 times higher maximum plasma concentrations and a 55% improvement in tumor growth inhibition in preclinical animal models compared to the approved injectable version. The drug is designed to target the approximately 80% of ER+ mBC patients who do not have ESR1 mutations.
