Verducatib is a novel, oral small molecule inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 1 (DPP1), also known as cathepsin C (CatC)[1][3][5][9]. By targeting DPP1/CatC, verducatib reduces the activation of neutrophil serine proteases, which are implicated in airway inflammation and tissue damage in bronchiectasis. Its mechanism aims to decrease airway inflammation and the frequency of exacerbations in patients with bronchiectasis. Verducatib was developed as a new molecular entity and received FDA breakthrough therapy designation in 2024 for bronchiectasis[5].
