Verducatib + dabigatran etexilate is a drug combination evaluated in clinical pharmacology studies to assess potential drug-drug interactions. Verducatib (BI 1291583) is a potent, oral, reversible inhibitor of cathepsin C (dipeptidyl peptidase 1), which is responsible for the activation of neutrophil serine proteases (NSPs) such as neutrophil elastase, proteinase 3, and cathepsin G. It is primarily developed for the treatment of chronic inflammatory airway diseases like bronchiectasis. Dabigatran etexilate is a prodrug of dabigatran, a direct thrombin inhibitor used as an anticoagulant. The combination has been studied to determine if verducatib, which may have inhibitory effects on transporters like P-glycoprotein (P-gp), affects the pharmacokinetics of dabigatran, a known P-gp substrate.
