Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vergenix STR (Soft Tissue Repair Matrix) is a medical device developed by CollPlant Biotechnologies for the treatment of tendinopathy and other soft tissue injuries. It is an injectable gel composed of cross-linked recombinant human type I collagen (rhCollagen), produced using a proprietary plant-based expression system. At the point of care, the gel is mixed with autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and injected into the injury site. The resulting collagen-fibrin matrix acts as a temporary scaffold that supports cell adhesion and proliferation while providing a reservoir for the sustained, localized release of growth factors from the PRP. This mechanism promotes tissue regeneration and accelerates the healing process in conditions such as tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), rotator cuff tears, and Achilles tendon injuries. The product is CE-marked for use in various tendinopathies.
