VERU-100 is a novel, proprietary long-acting gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist decapeptide formulated as a three-month subcutaneous depot injection. It is designed for androgen deprivation therapy in hormone-sensitive advanced prostate cancer. Upon subcutaneous administration, VERU-100 competes with endogenous GnRH for receptor binding in the anterior pituitary gland, inhibiting GnRH receptor signaling and thereby suppressing the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This results in rapid and sustained suppression of testosterone to castrate levels without an initial testosterone surge or escape. The formulation does not require a loading dose and aims to address clinical limitations of existing androgen deprivation therapies by providing long-term suppression with improved patient compliance[1][2][4][5][8].
