VesiculoVax Lassa vaccine is a VSV-based (vesicular stomatitis virus-vectored) prophylactic vaccine developed by Auro Vaccines and out-licensed to Emergent BioSolutions for the prevention of Lassa hemorrhagic fever. The vaccine utilizes the VesiculoVax platform, which employs an attenuated, replication-competent, negative-strand non-segmented RNA viral vector (specifically the N4CT1 backbone) engineered to express the Lassa virus glycoprotein complex (GPC) in its authentic form. This mechanism is designed to stimulate the immune system to produce potent neutralizing antibodies and elicit protective humoral immunity against the Lassa virus, a significant cause of viral hemorrhagic fever in West Africa and a potential bioterrorism agent. The vaccine has demonstrated efficacy in non-human primate challenge models and has completed IND-enabling toxicology studies.
