Overview

Vessel dilator peptide (VSDL) is a 37-amino acid cardiac peptide hormone derived from the N-terminal fragment (amino acids 31–67) of the 126-amino acid atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) prohormone. Developed by Madeleine Pharmaceuticals, it belongs to the natriuretic peptide family and functions as a natriuretic peptide receptor agonist. The peptide exerts potent diuretic, natriuretic, and vasodilatory effects, which are utilized to regulate blood pressure and plasma volume. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF) and associated renal impairment, including acute and moderate renal failure. In clinical studies, VSDL has demonstrated the ability to enhance urine flow and sodium excretion, aiming to improve hemodynamic stability and kidney function in patients with fluid overload. The drug is typically administered via subcutaneous infusion.
