The veterinary rotavirus RNA particle vaccine is a biological product developed by AlphaVax in partnership with Merck Animal Health (Intervet) for the prevention of rotavirus infection in livestock, particularly swine. The vaccine utilizes AlphaVax's proprietary alphavirus-based RNA particle (replicon particle) technology, specifically the Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEEV) replicon system. In this platform, the antigen-encoding RNA is packaged into propagation-defective RNA particles that deliver the genetic material directly to host cells. This process triggers robust humoral and cellular immune responses against the rotavirus antigen without the requirement for a live pathogen or traditional adjuvants.
