VG-WNV is a viral vector vaccine candidate developed by The Vaccine Group (TVG) for the prevention of West Nile Virus (WNV) infection. The vaccine utilizes a proprietary bovine herpesvirus 4 (BoHV-4) vector platform to deliver and express West Nile Virus antigens, specifically the premembrane (prM) and envelope (E) proteins. This platform is designed to induce robust humoral and cellular immune responses while maintaining a high safety profile, as BoHV-4 is non-pathogenic in non-bovine species and can accommodate large genetic inserts. While the primary development focus has been on veterinary applications, particularly for protecting horses which are highly susceptible to WNV-induced neurological disease, the technology also holds potential for human vaccine development.
