Overview

VG111 is a patented, natural product-based topical formulation developed by researchers at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, India, in collaboration with the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) in Mohali. Comprising herbal ingredients described in the Ayurvedic Pharmacopeia of India, VG111 is designed to promote wound healing and provide broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity without inducing cytotoxicity. It has been formulated into a sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC)-croscarmellose hydrogel matrix to optimize moisture retention and sustained topical delivery for burn wounds and other complex chronic wounds. VG111 exhibits potent antimicrobial and biofilm-disrupting properties against key pathogens, including methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA), colistin-resistant *Escherichia coli*, and *Acinetobacter baumannii*. It also demonstrates immunomodulatory effects by reducing inflammatory cytokines (such as IL-6 and TNF-alpha) and promoting fibroblast and keratinocyte proliferation.
