Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**VG1177** is a patented synthetic peptide developed by VG Life Sciences (formerly Viral Genetics) as a targeted peptide therapeutic (TPT) that acts as a competitive antagonist to the MHC class II invariant chain peptide (CLIP), targeting CD74. It selectively prevents the survival of pro-inflammatory cells in conditions of unwanted inflammation, thereby modulating immune responses without broadly suppressing immunity. Preclinical studies have demonstrated efficacy in reversing symptoms of preeclampsia (high blood pressure), preventing and treating preeclampsia-like features in mice, improving outcomes in traumatic brain injury models via immune therapy, and potential applications in Alzheimer's, epilepsy (Theiler's virus model), and other autoimmune/chronic inflammatory diseases.[1][2][3][5][7][9][11][13]
