Overview

VG2062 is an investigational oncolytic immunotherapy developed by Shanghai Virogin Biotech. It consists of a recombinant herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) engineered to express two potent immunostimulatory cytokines: human interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interleukin-15 (IL-15). The virus is designed to selectively replicate within and destroy tumor cells (oncolysis) while the localized expression of IL-12 and IL-15 promotes the activation and proliferation of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, thereby enhancing the systemic anti-tumor immune response. The "dual-regulated" feature refers to the control of viral replication and transgene expression to optimize safety and efficacy. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for patients with advanced malignant solid tumors who are HSV-seropositive.
