Overview

VGB-001 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the CD2 antigen, a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. Developed by Virogen, VGB-001 is designed to modulate the immune system by inhibiting T-cell activation and adhesion, and potentially depleting reactive T-cell populations. Its primary clinical applications include induction therapy in renal transplantation to prevent graft rejection, treatment of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD), and management of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Additionally, it is being investigated as a lymphodepletion agent to optimize the environment for CAR-T cell therapies by reducing endogenous T-cell competition.
