Overview

VGS-001 is a fully canine anti-CTLA4 monoclonal antibody developed for use in dogs, primarily as an immunotherapy for the treatment of solid tumors such as oral melanoma. It is designed to stimulate the immune system by blocking CTLA4, a checkpoint protein that downregulates immune responses, thereby enhancing T-cell mediated anti-tumor activity. VGS-001 has been evaluated in clinical trials for safety and efficacy in canine cancer patients, with encouraging results reported in controlling primary and metastatic oral melanoma. The drug represents one of the first fully canine checkpoint inhibitors specifically engineered for veterinary oncology[3][4][1][2].
