VGS-002 is a fully canine anti-cPD1 monoclonal antibody developed for veterinary oncology. It is designed to boost anti-tumor T cell responses by blocking the canine programmed cell death protein 1 (cPD1) pathway, thereby enhancing immune-mediated control or elimination of tumor burden. VGS-002 represents the canine version of an anti-PD1 immunotherapy, analogous to human checkpoint inhibitors used in cancer treatment. The drug was created using Vetigenics’ proprietary phage display platform that generates single-chain variable fragments (scFvs) from canine genetic material, ensuring the antibody is 100% canine in origin and structure. Its primary indication is for treating urothelial carcinoma (bladder cancer) in dogs, with ongoing clinical trials evaluating its safety, tolerability, pharmacodynamics, and potential biomarkers of response[1][2][3].
