VGX-750

VGX-750 is a small molecule drug candidate originally developed by VGX Pharmaceuticals (which merged with Inovio Biomedical in 2009 to form Inovio Pharmaceuticals) for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. It was designed as a follow-on compound to VGX-1027, functioning as a cytokine modulator that inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Preclinical studies indicated potential efficacy in models of rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic inflammatory conditions. However, following the corporate merger and a strategic shift toward DNA-based immunotherapies, the development of VGX-750 and related small molecule programs was discontinued.
