Overview

VH4011499 (also referred to as VH-499 or VH499) is a highly potent, investigational HIV-1 capsid inhibitor in clinical development for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. It is being developed as a long-acting antiretroviral agent with the potential for extended dosing intervals, aiming to improve patient adherence and convenience compared to daily oral therapies. The drug has demonstrated positive antiviral activity and good safety findings in phase 1 and phase 2a studies, including reductions in viral load among treatment-naive adults with HIV-1. VH4011499 acts by inhibiting the HIV-1 capsid protein, an essential component of viral replication. The compound does not inhibit or induce CYP3A4 and has shown favorable pharmacokinetics with a terminal half-life of approximately 2–3 days following oral administration[1][2][5][6].
