Overview

VH4524184 (also known as VH184) is a third-generation integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) in development for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. It is being developed as a long-acting antiretroviral therapy with the goal of providing effective viral suppression, including in cases where resistance to second-generation INSTIs has emerged. Early clinical data indicate that VH4524184 retains antiviral activity against HIV-1 strains resistant to other INSTIs such as dolutegravir and cabotegravir, and demonstrates a favorable safety and pharmacokinetic profile in phase 1 studies. The drug is being evaluated both for its efficacy in treatment-naïve adults living with HIV-1 and for its potential use as a long-acting formulation.
