Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VHDT is an investigational small molecule being developed by Fuzhou Changfuxing Biopharmaceutical Technology and Xiamen Encheng Pharmaceutical for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). It functions as a triple reuptake inhibitor (SNDRI), simultaneously targeting the serotonin transporter (SERT), norepinephrine transporter (NET), and dopamine transporter (DAT). By inhibiting the reuptake of these three key monoamine neurotransmitters, VHDT aims to increase their synaptic concentrations, potentially offering broader therapeutic efficacy and a faster onset of action compared to traditional selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). This multi-target approach is particularly intended to address symptoms such as anhedonia and cognitive impairment that are often associated with dopamine and norepinephrine deficiencies. VHDT is classified as a Class 1 innovative drug in China and is currently undergoing clinical evaluation.
