Overview

**VHH72-Fc** is a bivalent fusion protein consisting of the camelid-derived single-domain antibody (nanobody) VHH72 fused to a human IgG1 Fc domain, developed by researchers at VIB-Ghent University. It exhibits potent neutralizing activity against both SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 by binding to a highly conserved epitope in the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the viral spike protein, preventing interaction with the human ACE2 receptor and destabilizing the spike. This broad-spectrum action targets sarbecoviruses, with demonstrated prophylactic and therapeutic efficacy in K18-hACE2 mice and hamsters via intraperitoneal or intranasal administration; an affinity-enhanced version advanced to clinical testing by ExeVir Bio.[1][2][4][7]
