Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Viaskin is an innovative technology platform developed by DBV Technologies that uses epicutaneous immunotherapy (EPIT) to treat food allergies. The platform consists of a patch that delivers microgram amounts of allergens through intact skin without entering the bloodstream. This approach leverages the skin's immune tolerizing properties to gradually re-educate the immune system to become desensitized to specific allergens. The most advanced application of this technology is the Viaskin Peanut patch, which is designed to treat peanut allergies in children. The patch helps patients develop tolerance to peanut exposure, reducing the risk of systemic allergic reactions during accidental exposure. The Viaskin platform is also being investigated for other food allergies, including cow's milk allergies (Viaskin Milk).
