Overview
Viaskin Cashew (DBV135) is an investigational epicutaneous immunotherapy (EPIT) developed by DBV Technologies for the treatment of cashew allergy. The product utilizes the proprietary Viaskin patch technology to deliver microgram amounts of cashew allergen to the superficial layers of the skin. This approach targets the immune-rich epidermis, specifically Langerhans cells, to induce immunological desensitization while minimizing systemic absorption and the associated risk of anaphylaxis. By promoting the development of allergen-specific regulatory T cells, Viaskin Cashew aims to increase the threshold of allergen exposure required to trigger a reaction, thereby protecting patients against accidental ingestion. The therapy is primarily being evaluated in pediatric populations who are highly sensitive to cashew allergens.
