Viaskin HDM is an investigational epicutaneous immunotherapy patch developed for the treatment of house dust mite (HDM) allergy. The therapy uses a non-invasive skin patch to deliver microgram amounts of house dust mite allergen proteins directly to the immune system through intact skin, aiming to desensitize allergic individuals by leveraging the skin’s immune tolerizing properties. This approach, known as epicutaneous immunotherapy (EPIT), seeks to re-educate the immune system and reduce allergic responses over time. The technology is being developed by DBV Technologies, which has also advanced similar patches for peanut and milk allergies[3]. Clinical development has focused on pediatric populations with dust mite-induced allergic conditions.
