Viaskin PT is an investigational epicutaneous immunotherapy (EPIT) patch developed by DBV Technologies for the delivery of pertussis toxin antigen through intact skin. The technology is based on the proprietary Viaskin platform, which enables non-invasive administration of biologically active compounds to the immune system via the skin. The primary mechanism involves presenting pertussis toxin to immune cells in a controlled manner, aiming to induce a protective immune response without systemic exposure or injection. This approach is being explored as a booster vaccine strategy for whooping cough (pertussis), with early-stage clinical trials assessing safety and immunogenicity[8]. DBV Technologies has previously advanced similar EPIT patches for food allergies such as peanut and milk.
