Overview

VIB-1116 is a monoclonal antibody designed to decrease the number and function of antigen-presenting dendritic cells. It acts as an inhibitor of dendritic cells and modulates Fms-related tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3L), thereby reducing the activity of both conventional and plasmacytoid dendritic cells. The drug is being developed primarily for autoimmune conditions, with its main indication currently in Sjögren's syndrome. Initial development was by Viela Bio, with subsequent development by Amgen and Horizon Therapeutics. Clinical trials are ongoing to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy in rheumatic diseases associated with dendritic cell dysfunction[1][2][4][7].
