Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VIBEX Sumatriptan is a **generic sumatriptan** product developed by Antares Pharma and commercialized with Teva as a **single-dose prefilled subcutaneous autoinjector** using the VIBEX disposable auto-injector platform. It contains sumatriptan, a **small-molecule selective serotonin 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptor agonist**, and is supplied as 4 mg/0.5 mL and 6 mg/0.5 mL presentations for the **acute treatment of migraine with or without aura and cluster headache in adults**. By activating 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors, sumatriptan promotes cranial vasoconstriction and suppresses trigeminal neuropeptide release and pain signaling, thereby relieving acute headache symptoms. The product was approved by the FDA in December 2015 as a generic equivalent to Imitrex STATdose Pen and launched in June 2016.
