Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ViCapsyn is an investigational, preclinical **allogeneic stem-cell-derived beta-cell replacement therapy** for type 1 diabetes developed by ViCapsys Life Sciences. The product consists of human stem-cell-derived insulin-producing beta cells encapsulated in an alginate microcapsule matrix containing the immunomodulatory chemokine CXCL12. Local CXCL12 signaling is intended to promote beta-cell survival, reduce destructive effector immune-cell trafficking, and retain regulatory T cells around the graft, enabling insulin production without systemic immunosuppression. Preclinical murine and nonhuman-primate studies have evaluated intraperitoneal transplantation of the encapsulated cells.
