Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**ViCapsyn** is a preclinical, implantable allogeneic stem-cell-derived beta-cell replacement therapy being developed by ViCapsys Life Sciences for **type 1 diabetes**. The product encapsulates insulin-producing human stem-cell-derived beta cells in an alginate matrix containing the chemokine CXCL12. CXCL12 is intended to create localized immune protection, reduce fibrotic foreign-body responses, recruit regulatory T cells, repel effector T cells, and support beta-cell survival and glucose-responsive insulin secretion without systemic immunosuppression. Preclinical studies of this CXCL12-alginate encapsulation approach have reported functional activity in diabetic mice and nonhuman primates.
