Vicebio SARS-CoV-2 new strain vaccine

Vicebio's SARS-CoV-2 new strain vaccine is a preclinical-stage protein subunit vaccine candidate designed to target emerging variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The vaccine utilizes proprietary Molecular Clamp technology, licensed from the University of Queensland, which is a protein stabilization platform that locks viral surface proteins—specifically the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein—into their optimal prefusion conformation. By maintaining this stable shape, the vaccine is intended to present the immune system with the most relevant antigenic epitopes to elicit a potent neutralizing antibody response against updated variants. Vicebio, a UK-based biopharmaceutical company, was acquired by Sanofi in 2025, and this program is part of a broader respiratory virus pipeline that leverages the Molecular Clamp platform to improve vaccine stability and immunogenicity.
