Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vichy Dercos Aminexil Clinical 5 is a topical combination product developed by L'Oréal Research and Innovation to treat mild to moderate alopecia (hair loss), particularly for individuals with sensitive scalps. [8] The formulation contains three key components: piroctone olamine, 2,4-diaminopyrimidine oxide (also known as aminexil), and Vichy's proprietary mineralizing thermal water. Piroctone olamine provides antifungal properties to improve overall scalp health and balance. [1, 4] Aminexil, a molecule patented by L'Oréal, works by counteracting perifollicular fibrosis (the hardening of collagen around hair roots), which helps to anchor the hair more securely to the scalp. [11, 12, 19] The Vichy Mineralizing Water component provides soothing and strengthening benefits to the scalp. [8] The product is marketed as a cosmetic treatment that reduces hair loss, strengthens hair fibers, and improves scalp resistance. [3, 8, 13]
