Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vicryl Plus + Monocryl Plus + PDS Plus is a combination of three triclosan-coated absorbable surgical sutures manufactured by Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson company. The combination includes Coated VICRYL Plus (polyglactin 910, a multifilament), MONOCRYL Plus (poliglecaprone 25, a monofilament), and PDS Plus (polydioxanone, a monofilament). Each suture is impregnated or coated with triclosan (Irgacare MP), a medical-grade antimicrobial agent designed to inhibit bacterial colonization, particularly by Gram-positive organisms such as *Staphylococcus aureus*, for up to approximately 30 days post-implantation. This combination is classified as a medical device/drug combination and is used for general soft tissue approximation and ligation. In clinical research, such as the Phase 4 trial conducted by the University of Texas Medical Branch, this combination has been evaluated for its efficacy in reducing surgical site infections (SSI) and endometritis in patients undergoing cesarean delivery.
