Overview

Vidicine is a Ugandan herbal medicinal product developed by Kazire Health Products in collaboration with Makerere University. Formulated as an oral syrup, it is intended for the treatment of acute respiratory viral infections, including COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. The product was evaluated in the Phase 2A Clinical Trial of Natural Therapeutics (CONAT), a study conducted by the Makerere University Lung Institute and funded by the Ugandan Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. The trial assessed the safety, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy of Vidicine in clearing viral loads and facilitating symptom remission in adult patients. Following the completion of clinical evaluations, Vidicine received approval in Uganda in early 2025 as a natural therapeutic for respiratory viral infections.
