Velon-M is a fixed-dose combination of vildagliptin and metformin hydrochloride used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin is a potent and selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that enhances glycemic control by increasing the levels of incretin hormones, which stimulate insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin is a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent that improves glucose tolerance by lowering both basal and postprandial plasma glucose.
