Overview

Vilon is a synthetic dipeptide bioregulator consisting of L-lysine and L-glutamic acid (Lys-Glu). Developed by the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, it is the shortest known peptide bioregulator. It targets the immune system, specifically thymic tissue and T-lymphocytes, by mimicking naturally occurring thymic peptides. Its primary mechanism of action is epigenetic regulation through chromatin remodeling, specifically promoting deheterochromatinization to enhance gene expression accessibility. Vilon is investigated for its immunomodulatory and geroprotective properties, particularly in addressing immune dysfunction and age-related immunosenescence. It has been shown to stimulate thymocyte proliferation and inhibit apoptosis in T-helper cells.
