viloxazine

Viloxazine is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) used primarily for the treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children, adolescents, and adults. It increases levels of norepinephrine in the brain by inhibiting its reuptake, which helps improve attention and reduce impulsivity and hyperactivity. Viloxazine also modulates serotonin receptors—acting as an antagonist at 5-HT2B receptors and an agonist at 5-HT2C receptors—which may contribute to its clinical effects[1][2][4]. The drug is available as extended-release oral capsules under the brand name Qelbree[1][3][5]. Originally developed decades ago as an antidepressant in Europe, it has been repurposed for ADHD treatment.
