Overview
VimClara is an autologous cancer vaccine developed by Torigen Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of various solid tumors in dogs, cats, and horses. As a personalized immunotherapy, the vaccine is created using the patient's own tumor cells, which are mechanically dissociated, inactivated with glutaraldehyde, and combined with a proprietary small intestinal submucosa (SIS) adjuvant known as MIM-SIS (protein matrix immuno-modulator). This combination works by presenting the patient's unique tumor-associated antigens to the immune system, thereby re-educating it to recognize and attack cancer cells. Regulated by the USDA as an experimental veterinary biologic, VimClara is administered as a series of subcutaneous injections and has been commercially available for veterinary oncology since 2017.
