Overview

Vinblastine isoleucinate is a **synthetic derivative of vinblastine**, where the vinblastine molecule is conjugated to isoleucine as an amide at the 23-position[3]. It belongs to the **vinca alkaloids**, a family of antineoplastic agents that act by inhibiting microtubule polymerization, thus blocking mitosis in actively dividing cells. Preclinical studies show vinblastine isoleucinate exhibits antitumor activity comparable to or even greater than vinblastine itself against multiple human tumor xenograft models, particularly demonstrating superior activity against malignant melanoma, small cell lung carcinoma, and some breast cancer lines[3]. Its development status beyond preclinical and animal studies is unclear, and there is no evidence it has reached clinical approval, marketing, or routine human use.
