Overview
A combination regimen of **vincristine**, **bleomycin**, and **methotrexate** is used in the treatment of advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Vincristine is a vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule formation, halting cell division. Bleomycin is an antitumor antibiotic that induces DNA strand breaks through free radical formation. Methotrexate is an antimetabolite and antifolate agent that inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, disrupting DNA synthesis. This combination is administered intravenously over several days and cycles, and may be used as part of protocols such as VBM for patients with inoperable or recurrent head and neck cancers[1][2][3][4].
