Overview

A multi-agent chemotherapy regimen evaluated by the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center for the treatment of Ewing sarcoma. This combination therapy includes vincristine, doxorubicin (Adriamycin), actinomycin D (dactinomycin), and ifosfamide. The regimen utilizes multiple mechanisms of action to combat tumor growth: vincristine is a vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule formation during mitosis; doxorubicin is an anthracycline that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II; actinomycin D is a cytotoxic antibiotic that intercalates DNA and inhibits RNA synthesis; and ifosfamide acts as a DNA alkylating agent. This pilot study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of this intensive combination in patients with the Ewing sarcoma family of tumors.
