Overview

Vincristine ginsenoside liposome is an experimental liposomal formulation of the vinca alkaloid vincristine, developed by Xiamen Ginposome Pharmaceutical. The formulation utilizes the company's proprietary Ginposome drug delivery system (DDS), which incorporates ginsenosides (specifically ginsenoside Rg3) as a functional membrane material for the liposome. Vincristine's mechanism of action involves binding to tubulin and inhibiting microtubule polymerization, which leads to mitotic arrest and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. The use of ginsenosides in the liposomal membrane is intended to improve the stability, pharmacokinetic profile, and therapeutic index of the drug. While other ginsenoside-based liposomes from the same developer are in late-stage clinical development, the vincristine formulation is currently identified in patent filings.
