Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VINDIP is an equine-derived diphtheria antitoxin developed and marketed by Vins Bioproducts Limited. It is a polyclonal immunoglobulin biologic prepared by hyperimmunizing horses with diphtheria toxin or toxoid. The resulting plasma is enzymatically refined, purified, and concentrated to produce antibodies that specifically neutralize the toxin secreted by *Corynebacterium diphtheriae*, the causative agent of diphtheria. Administered via intramuscular injection, VINDIP provides immediate passive immunity by neutralizing circulating toxin before it can bind to host tissues. It has been marketed in India since 2006 and is typically supplied as a 10,000 I.U. solution in 10 mL vials.
