Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vine tea is a traditional Chinese herbal infusion derived from the leaves of *Ampelopsis grossedentata*. It is particularly rich in flavonoids, with dihydromyricetin (DHM) being its primary active constituent. Research, notably conducted by the Research Center for Nutrition and Food Safety at the Third Military Medical University, has investigated vine tea for its potential metabolic benefits, specifically its ability to lower blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The pharmacological effects of vine tea are attributed to its antioxidant properties and its ability to modulate metabolic pathways, including the activation of AMPK and the improvement of insulin sensitivity. It is commonly consumed as a functional food or dietary supplement in East Asia.
