Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vinix is an oral dissolving film (ODF) formulation of sildenafil, a potent and selective inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). Developed by the South Korean company C.L. Pharm using its proprietary ODF technology, Vinix is designed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). The ODF delivery system allows the medication to be placed on the tongue, where it dissolves rapidly without the need for water, facilitating discreet use and potentially faster absorption compared to traditional oral tablets. By inhibiting PDE5, sildenafil prevents the breakdown of cGMP in the smooth muscle cells of the corpus cavernosum, thereby enhancing the vasodilatory effects of nitric oxide and increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. Vinix has received regulatory approval in several markets, including South Korea.
