Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vinobell is an oncology medication developed and marketed by CKD OTTO Pharmaceuticals, a joint venture between Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical Corp. and PT Otto Pharmaceutical Industries. The active ingredient is vinorelbine, a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid that functions as a small molecule chemotherapy agent. Vinobell works by binding to tubulin and inhibiting its polymerization into microtubules, which are essential for cell division; this disruption leads to cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase and eventual apoptosis. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and metastatic breast cancer. Notably, Vinobell is produced in Indonesia by the first oncology manufacturing facility to receive halal certification.
