Overview

Vinorelbine is a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid antineoplastic agent derived from vinblastine. It is primarily used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including metastatic and advanced cases, and is also indicated for advanced breast cancer and mesothelioma. Vinorelbine acts as a mitotic inhibitor by binding to β-tubulin at the Vinca-binding domain of microtubules, disrupting microtubule dynamics essential for mitosis. This leads to mitotic arrest at metaphase, inhibition of cell division, and ultimately apoptosis in proliferating cancer cells. Vinorelbine can be administered intravenously or orally (as capsules) and may be used alone or in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents such as cisplatin[1][2][3][4][6][7].
