Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of three agents—vinorelbine, cyclophosphamide, and interferon alpha 2b—used primarily in investigational settings for the treatment of advanced neoplasms. Vinorelbine is a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid that inhibits mitosis by binding to tubulin and disrupting microtubule formation in dividing cells. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA strands, leading to cell death. Interferon alpha 2b is a recombinant cytokine with immunomodulatory, antiproliferative, and antiangiogenic properties. The combination has been studied as "metronomic chemotherapy," where low continuous doses are administered to exert antiangiogenic effects while minimizing toxicity[1][2][8]. This regimen aims to target both tumor cells directly (cytotoxicity) and the tumor microenvironment (antiangiogenesis/immunomodulation).
